STORIES OF IMPACT
“As a co-founder and mentee parent of B.O.S.S. Mentoring, I’ve witnessed first-hand what its mission promises: to educate and support young men ages 8-18 through workshops, life skills, and career development.
My son entered the program at eight, and watching him blossom under the guidance of caring Black men from varied backgrounds has been one of the greatest honors of my life. This organization doesn’t just build boys—it builds character, community, and legacy.”

“As co-founder and mentee parent at B.O.S.S. Mentoring, I stand firmly behind our mission: to educate and support young men ages 8–18 through workshops, life skills, and career development.
My son joined us at age eight. Over the years, I’ve watched him evolve with confidence, values, and purpose—guided by accomplished Black men from across backgrounds. This isn’t just mentoring. It’s transformation in progress.”

My experience with B.O.S.S. Mentoring Inc. has been truly rewarding. What started as a way to give back turned into a personal journey of growth. I learned the power of consistency, patience, and simply showing up. Watching my mentees gain confidence and step into leadership reminded me how impactful mentorship can be. B.O.S.S. not only empowers youth—it helped shape me into a more thoughtful and purpose-driven leader. I'm proud to be part of such an inspiring program.

I have always been a "school mom" and in tune as best I can with opportunities to help my children reach their goals and fullest potential. After the fiasco with Covid and remote schooling, I noticed a change in Jihad's mental and emotional health. To help give him what he needed, I listened to the request to be homeschooled. While he excelled academically, mental and emotional support needed more assistance. I wasn't able to sign Jihad up for any programs because he wasn't enrolled in the school district and neighboring cities had programs but only for their residents. So I take my search to Google for a mentoring program and BOSS Mentoring popped up!. I became very interested in this program from reading the bio and discovered that this organization has raised the bar by offering international travel!! The icing on the cake was when I was told that enrollment wasn't closed to just Camden residents. I prayed on it and made the commitment to take the drive, which is a small price to pay, to help my son reach his potential.
These past two and a half years have been exceptional! The first impression was very welcoming and professional, yet still down to earth! Everyone has been very supportive to myself and my son, from the very beginning. Yes, KJ still had some issues, the "teeanage" growing pains, but he has grown so much more than what I expected. Quiet as it's kept, he has matured even more after his trip to Thailand. He hit a brief set back and needed to take a break, yet everyone still showed him love and support! Now, thank God, he's better and ready to come back to BOSS!
Everyone will always have a special place in my heart...you all truly have lived up to the expression "It takes a village to raise a child". Thanks for opening up the village to us!!!

My name is Shakita Minzy, and I’ve had the honor of being both a parent of a BOSS mentee and a member of the BOSS Mentoring staff. Our journey with BOSS began in 2021, during a time when my son Joseph was facing challenges socially, academically, and emotionally. Discovering BOSS was truly a turning point for him—and for our family.
The BOSS program provided exactly what Joseph needed: a safe space to grow, connect, and learn. Through peer interaction and strong mentorship, he began developing crucial life skills such as accountability, personal presentation, and emotional resilience. But more than anything, BOSS gave him something invaluable—positive, consistent role models who look like him and understand the challenges he faces as a young Black boy growing into manhood.
Watching Joseph gain confidence, build meaningful relationships, and learn how to navigate life with intention has been incredible. The growth I’ve seen in him is directly tied to the commitment and care poured into this program by the mentors and staff.
Because of the impact BOSS has had on my son, I felt called to join the team myself. Becoming part of the village that has helped shape Joseph into who he is today has been a privilege. I’m deeply grateful for the mission of BOSS and for the community it has built—not just for my family, but for so many others.
I look forward to watching Joseph continue to grow and, one day, become a mentor himself to the next generation. That is the impact of BOSS.
