OUR STORY
Founded in 2017 as BOSS Mentoring, Inc., we began as a grassroots program dedicated to empowering boys ages 8–18 in Camden through mentorship, leadership, and life skills.
Over the years, we grew from a small initiative into a trusted community organization, serving youth through mentoring, school partnerships, cultural travel, and family engagement.
Recognizing the need to expand beyond boys and serve families, girls, alumni, and the broader community, we rebranded as BOSS Impact Academy—a multi-program organization serving youth and families across Camden City, Camden County, and surrounding areas.
Today, BOSS Impact Academy represents a full ecosystem of support: mentorship for boys (BOSS) and girls (GLOSS), parent empowerment, youth enrichment, cultural exploration, wellness connections, and alumni engagement. Guided by our tagline, “Building Opportunities for Stronger Success,” we are committed to empowering generations and transforming communities.

Founders’ Message
When BOSS Mentoring was founded in 2017, we set out with a simple but powerful goal: to guide young boys in Camden through mentorship, leadership, and life skills. What began as a small grassroots effort quickly grew into a trusted program that changed lives and created opportunities, because the need in our community was always greater than any one program.As the work evolved, we recognized that our impact needed to reach beyond boys alone. Families, girls, alumni, and the broader community also needed the same support, connection, and empowerment. That vision led to the bold rebrand into BOSS Impact Academy, something much bigger than we ever imagined.
While Yaniece Spencer and Rafiah Hickson co-founded BOSS Mentoring, Veda Cloud’s leadership as a founding board member and later as board chair was instrumental in shaping the transition. Her role in the rebrand was so significant that it was only fitting to honor her as a co-founder of BOSS Impact Academy.
Today, as co-founders, we stand united in a simple yet powerful vision: to equip youth and families with the tools, resources, and opportunities to succeed, not just for today but for generations to come. Through mentorship, education, cultural exploration, wellness, and family engagement, we are building pathways of impact that extend beyond individuals and ripple across entire communities.
